Filmmaker and Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam leader Seeman’s brother has approached the Madras High Court questioning the rationale behind the detention of Seeman under the National Security Act (NSA).

A Division Bench consisting of Justices C Nagappan and P R Shivakumar, before whom the petition came up, ordered notice to the police, State and Central authorities, returnable in six weeks.

In the habeas corpus petition, Seeman’s brother James Peter said that his brother was unfairly detained under the NSA and that the detention order against him should be quashed.

He also said the Naam Thamizhar movement headed by Seeman was garnering big support all over the world. With a view to suppressing its activities, the case was foisted on Seeman with malafide intention.
